The Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub and Climate Change Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment collaboratively organized a three-days (15th, 16th, 17th January 2025) Project Proposal Development write-shop at Waters Edge Hotel at Battaramulla.
About 35 participants from the Project Proposal Development Working Group, which constitutes members from Nationally Determined Contributions related Ministries, other government institutions, the banking community, and participated in this write-shop. Mr. Aurelius Nkonde, the Commonwealth National Climate Finance Adviser (CNCFA) for Seychelles was the lead trainer. Dr Gina Maswabi, the CNCFA for Sri Lanka was responsible for the overall conceptualization, coordination and moderation of the Writeshop.

This climate finance writeshop aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to write compelling project proposals that secure climate finance for their projects. By the end of this workshop, participants could
* Identify and analyze the key elements of a successful climate finance project proposal
* Develop a clear and concise project concept note
* Write a comprehensive project proposal that meets the requirements of major climate finance institutions
Accordingly, the output of the Writeshop entails 4 draft concept notes for Agriculture, Forestry, Transport and Waste sectors. These were formulated within the three days.
