Secretary of the Ministry of Environment. Dr. Anil Jasinghe and Sri Lankan Head of Japan International Cooperation Institute, Mr. Tetsuya Yamada signed the agreement,  between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Environment on the project of "Plastic Management Capacity Development"  at the Ministry of Environment today. . Officials including the Chairman, Director General of the Central Environment Authority and Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Environment participated at the event.

This project is a 03 year project scheduled to be commenced in 2023. A plastic management center is planned to be established in the Central Environment Authority under this project. This project will implement capacity building programs related to plastic waste management.
