United Nations Assistant Secretary-General (ASG), Ms. Kanni Wignaraja met Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, on 14 Decemebr 2021 at the Ministry of Environment.

Ms. Wignaraja is also the Assistant Administrator of the UNDP and the Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.

The Secretary warmly welcomed Ms.Wignaraja to the Ministry and updated her on the ongoing environmental projects in the country and current issues related environment.

 The Assistant Secretary General said at the event that she will support Sri Lanka in accordance with its climate change mitigation and adaptation plan.

The UNDP was represented by Mr. Robert Juhkam, Resident Representative, Dr. Buddika Hapuarachchi, Policy Specialist and Head of Climate & Environment Team.
