Minister cop26

On November 4th, 2021, the Minister of Environment of Sri Lanka, Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, addressed a global audience as the opening speaker at the side event organized by the co-leads of the Finance & Technology Day under the Capacity Building Days of the 26th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP26) in Glasgow, UK. The session was organized by the UNFCCC’s Paris Committee on Capacity Building (PCCB) and SLYCAN Trust, the lead partner for the PCCB's Finance & Technology Day, and took place at the PCCB Capacity-Building Hub.

The event highlighted cross-cutting, evidence-driven global pathways to enhance climate finance and build resilient livelihoods and societies. Key topics of discussion included climate-induced loss and damage, capacity-building on risk management and climate finance, risk transfer, access to data and technology, earth observations, local-level planning, gender responsiveness, youth engagement, and the importance of identifying, replicating, and scaling up good practices for enhancing capacities on climate risk.
