The approval has been granted on 21.11.2022  for the Cabinet Memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Environment to establish the National Eco-labelling Framework of Sri Lanka in order to promote a credible and internationally recognized environmental certification and environmental labelling system and standards in Sri Lanka.

This programme will be implemented in collaboration with the main stakeholders including Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) and Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) while creating the required background to encourage producers as well as consumers for environmental-friendly production and consumption patterns; with the objectives of providing broader state support for environmental-labeling; and minimizing Green Washing of products and services.
