Theme: “Creative Innovation”
The Global Recycling Day was commemorated on 18th March, world over to promote circular economy by reducing use of virgin resources. Waste paper, plastic, metal, and glass are some of the materials that could be recycled to produce new products cutting down the cost on virgin resources and energy.
Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Homagama Pradeshiya Sabhawa organized an event at Pitipana , Homagama to collect recyclable items form households, and institutions. This programme was sponsored by USAID – Ocean Plastic Reduction Activity. Around 01 metric tons of recyclable waste was collected at the event.
