Biodiversity Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment has planned to commemorate the International Biodiversity Day 2024 with the theme of “Be part of the Plan” by focusing to control and manage of invasive alien species, which have become a major threat to biodiversity in Sri Lanka.
The National event on this effort will be held on 22nd May 2024 at 9.30am in the Horton Plains National Park by removing invasive alien species of Ulex europaeus which has been spread in the Horton plains National Park, under the patronage of the Hon. State Minister of Environment, and the participation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Sectaries of the relevant Ministries, distinguished guests, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, environmental organizations, youth groups, universities and school children.
