Two days training program has been conducted on Controlling transboundary movements of plastic waste with the UNEP experts during 12th and 13th June 2023 at Hotel Janaki, Narahenpita under the project on “Marine Litter and Microplastic” (NORAD1). The opening remarks of the training was made by Additional Secretary (EP&P), Ministry of Environment. The participants for this training were Sri Lanka Customs, CEA, Dept. of Import and Export and other relevant stakeholders related to transboundary movements of plastic waste.

The training program will enhance the knowledge of the participants on controlling the transboundary movement of plastic waste, which will help to resolve an incident of transboundary movement of plastic waste when it occurs.
